About OCCA

We began in 1949 when nine citizens incorporated as the 16-28 Community Association. Over the years the organization grew and in 1971 the name was changed to the 16-34 Community Association. Today our membership includes over 500 households from one end of the island to the other and our name now reflects our island-wide membership and mission.

OCCA works to ensure that the traditional family resort character of Ocean City is maintained through continuing efforts to preserve neighborhoods, beaches, boardwalk, bay and lagoons. We help to empower citizens who care about improving Ocean City’s resources and public facilities for the enjoyment of all.

We have a list of active committees. Our long-standing Planning & Zoning committee has been on the leading edge of an island-wide movement to reform Ocean City’s residential zoning ordinance to maintain the characteristics of existing neighborhoods. Our Environmental Committee has initiated cleanups at Corson’s Inlet and the Stainton Wildlife Refuge and partners with the City on the spring and fall “Beach Sweeps” and “alley cleanup” in the wintertime. Other interests include Code Enforcement, making Ocean City a more bike friendly community, road and drainage improvements, educating our members and the community on important issues affecting us, and preserving Ocean City’s history.

If you have an idea or something you want to either change or preserve about Ocean City, we invite you to attend one of our Board Meetings. We welcome your participation – both personal and financial. Our Membership dues are $15 per year per family and enable us to continue our work and involvement in City affairs. Please fill out the membership application form or join us using secure online payment.
